Profile: Nicola Rose
Born in 1968. Nicola Rose lives and works in the South of England. She studied Illustration and Graphic Design at The Kent Institute before completing her Masters degree in Fine Art Printmaking at Brighton University.
Nicola Rose is an experienced painter of landscapes and subject matter inspired by nature. She cites travel as being a key source of her inspiration. Each canvas consists of many paintings layered one on top of the other, creating a rich history of colours and textures.
Seeking to capture the essence of the weather, structures, ice and water through the use of oil paint, Rose has travelled extensively in South Africa, the Greek islands, New Zealand, India and Israel, as well as the unpredictable west coast of Britain and the forbidding interior and glacial regions of Iceland. The paintings are a personal response to the extreme forces of nature.
Her work has been exhibited throughout the UK including, Bath, Bristol, Glasgow and London and also in USA, New York.
